Happy Anniversary Travis!!!

Happy 3rd Anniversary Travis!!! (I'm so proud of my husband...he's a faithful follower of our blog...good job honey!)

Today marks our whopping 3rd year annniversary:) It seems like we've been married alot longer since we've packed so much into our first three years! Got married, moved to Texas (me that is!),lived in our sweet little apartment, bought a new car, bought a new house, had 2 babies! Love it! You're the love of my life and my best friend Travis Howry! I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you!

Here's a fun little anniversary questionnaire that's been going around blog-land...

1. Where did you meet?
We met at Southwest Baptist University in Missouri. We met when I was a freshman and he was a sophmore. I thought he was SO cute (he had the cutest blonde curls back in the day ;) )... we talked for a month or so and then just went our seperate ways dating other people. Our senior year of college (he went 5 years) was when we began dating.

2. How long did you date before you were married? 8 months! After the first month of dating we had already talked about getting married... we just knew!

3. How long have you been married?
We have been married 3 years today!

4. What does he do that surprises you? I don't know if it surprises me but he always puts me and the babies first. He always makes sure that our needs are taken care of and never even thinks about himself. I hate surprises so he's wised up and doesn't do them very often:) Thanks Trav :)

5. What is your favorite feature of his? I love his eyes and his long legs :) I'm so happy my babes both have these feature from their dad!

6. What is your favorite quality of his?
He is a HARD worker! No questions about it... he does his job to the best of his ability and more... I'm so proud of him for that.

7. Does he have a nickname for you?- Babe... we laugh because I think I've only heard him call me Ashley a handful of times.

8. What is his favorite color? BLUE... the way I discovered this was when we got married every shirt in his closet was blue.... not a lie! :)

9. What is his favorite food? Mexican! Really any kind of food... he's not a picky eater at all. Oh...but he doesn't like sweets ;) right Trav???

10. What is his favorite sport? Football :)

11. When and where was your first kiss? Watching a movie at my apartment. The kiss was a mili-second long... seriously. Worst kiss ever haha! He'll vouch for that. :) We ended the night with a side hug... even more awkward. It's amazing we went on a second date haha!

12. What are your favorite things to do as a couple?- Eat Mexican food! And spend time as a family!

13. Do you have children?- Emma and Colt

14. Does he have a hidden talent?- Yes. We do a great circus act together...he even provides the music :) "da dadadada da da da da"... Besides that I can't think of any talents that he has hidden. He's VERY coordinated and athletic.

15. How old is he? 26

16. Who said, "I love you" first?- I did on accident... but he did on purpose :)

17. What is his favorite type of music?-Country...no doubt about it!

18. What do you admire most about him?-I admire his love for the Lord and his desire to raise our kids to the Lord.

19. Do you think he will read this?- Yes :) I know he will!

20. What color are his eyes?- Blue (weird question to end on!)

Happy Anniversary Travis!!! I love you :)

Sadly we won't get to be together much on our anniversary... there's a tiny little thing that is getting in the way called football :) We celebrated a little earlier in the week with a date to the Cheesecake Factory and Barnes and Nobles (to sit and read!)...it was SUCH a treat! That's what the pic at the top of the page is from.

Hope everybody has a great Wednesday!

Thankful

I took the kids to the park this morning. The weather was perfect... sunny with a little breeze. As we walked around the pond I was just overcome with the feeling of thankfulness. Thankful that I am able to stay home with my babies. Thankful that I have a husband who supports this decision. It's not always easy... there are days when I would love to get dressed up and have somewhere to be. Days where I would love adult interaction. Days where I wish someone would let me know they appreciated me helping them (although Emma has turned into the politeness queen...she actually thanked me for changing her diaper the other day...makes me laugh to think about it). But then I remind myself that I can have those days later. Later on when my kids are grown. For this season of my life I GET to stay home to raise and enjoy my children. And for that I am thankful!

And of course a post must have pics!

Cuddling on mommy's bed:)
The next couple pictures make me smile... :) her little pony tail and chipmunk teeth are almost too cute to handle!

speaking of chipmunks...here's a chubby one named Colty!

Blue Cottage Kids

(Don't worry Grandma... pictures of the kids are to follow shortly :) )

After much thought and prayer I've decided to start a little business (for those of you who followed my hairbow endeavor... well.. let's just say that hair-bows aren't exactly a money making business...that is unless you're making hundreds and hundreds! Which...I most definitely don't have time for!).

I love sewing and making things for Emma and other little girls! I think that little girls should look like little girls and not little women. I began thinking about sewing to sell after I had several people encourage me to do so. So... long story short... Blue Cottage Kids was thought up! I opened a story on Etsy with pre-made clothing and other things. But I also love to do custom orders. So add my Etsy store and Blue Cottage Kids blog to your favorites! I will be adding new things periodically so check back frequently!

Jammies and Pumpkins

One day last week it was rainy and cold all day. So I decided we would make it a "Jammie Day!" The babes and I stayed in our pjs all day and it felt so good! We ate lots of snacks, watched a movie ("Dodo" aka Jonah from Veggie Tales), read books and played all day! It was such a cozy fall day! I'm excited for more of those kind of days this winter!
This weekend we made a trip to the Pumpkin Patch to pick out our fall pumpkins. Emma had a great time running through the hay-bale maze and picking out her own pumpkin!
It's hard to believe the weekend is already almost over... feels like it just started. Hope everybody has a great Monday tomorrow!

Snuggling on the couch... so cozy!

Fair Day!

Yesterday we loaded up and headed to the State Fair of Texas! The weather was pretty chilly (for Texas that is!) and drizzly so we didn't stay to long. Just long enough to visit our favorite spots (the petting zoo, Peter the Great, Big Tex, the car building, the bird show and a ride for Emmy) and of course to eat our favorite fried foods! Here are the foods we tried this year and my rating of them...

Fried Peaches and Cream- A++++!!! These were so delicious!!! They were individually fried peach slices that you dipped in a sweet cream sauce... it tasted alot like peach cobbler.
Fried Guacamole Balls-C :( We had these last year and I remembered them tasting yummy. This year I think they had been fried for awhile because the fried part was kind of chewy and gross. Oh well!
Fried Cookie Dough-A+++++!!! How can you go wrong here?! :)

One of the new foods this year was Fried Butter. I thought about trying them but didn't want to waste my tickets on something I might not like... maybe next year! Oh and for those of you who haven't heard about the Fried Butter... they take a golfball size scoop of butter dipped in batter and then deep fry it. There are several different flavors...one of them being garlic. Sounds like a tasty heart-attack waiting to happen!!! :)

We had such a great time! Enjoy the pics!

This is a pic of Emma last year at the fair...
And here she is in the same flower this year!!! Amazing how fast they grow in a year! (Both children and flowers...haha! It's late can you tell?! :) )
Our fam in front of Big Tex :)
Sweet Coltyboy slept the whole time we were there! Thanks for the warm knit hat Mamaw!
We went and looked at all of the new cars while it rained outside. Emmy had a great time running around

We thought Em might enjoy a ride this year... so we picked some little boats that went around in a circle of water. She sat looking like this the majority of the ride... stiff and straight as can be clutching the side :)
Looking a little happier!
Ahhh Peter the Great :) (he's a giant bull in case you can't tell) Emma really loved him and kept wanting to pet his nose
The petting zoo was great this year! They had some different looking animals including this fellow... I think it was a llama with a poodle hairdo?! Makes me laugh every time I look at him! hahaha
Then there was this little guy... bless his heart!! haha! I went to feed him some corn and was caught off-guard by his little dentures...ha!
The camel was quite friendly!
Admiring the Grand Champion Pig :)

Alrighty... I'm off to sew some more dresses for the craft fair next weekend! As promised I'll post about those later! Have a great Friday everyone!

This week...

Okay...time to catch back up on the blog! I have been busy busy busy and blogging has been the last thing to get done on my list (obviously!!! :) ). We've been busy with football games (high and middle school), life with two little people, teaching piano lessons and lots of sewing! I've started sewing dresses for friends and family for a little extra cash on the side. The response that I've received is been MUCH bigger than I ever thought I would get! I am also trying to sew extra dresses to take to a craft fair next weekend. All of that is another post for another day! Alrighty... this was a very random and brief post... but better that than nothing eh'?! :) And since I don't believe in posts without pictures here are a few for your viewing pleasure! Have a great Wednesday!!!
