Hard to believe tomorrow is Christmas Eve!!! I spent the day tidying up the house, doing laundry, wrapping presents and finishing up last minute to-do's. All of this was done with Christmas music on and windows and front door wide open. The weather was 75 here today... what!????!! I have never been anywhere where it has been so warm right before Christmas! It was such an odd feeling! Trav and I took the kids to the park this afternoon to play. I figured we'd better get fill up on fresh air and sunshine before winter decides to make an appearance again in Texas :)
We went over to Trav's parents tonight for supper and to visit with our sisters and nephew and niece. Kate (Trav's sister) made a little impromptu game for the kids called, "Dress Aunt Kate up like a Christmas Tree." Ha! It was the funniest thing to watch! The kids thought it was the funniest thing to hang ornaments on her :)
I'm so excited for Christmas morning. We're doing things a little different at our house this year. Trav and I have decided that we're not going to do Santa Claus. Instead on Christmas morning we're going to have a birthday party for Jesus. We spent a lot of time talking about what we wanted Christmas to look like for our family and what we've chosen is definitely not the norm. There is definitely nothing wrong with Santa... I think the idea and magic behind him coming is really quite fun! It's just a choice that we made as a family. So if your family believes in Santa than yay for you:) Just know we're not Santa haters haha! So... anyways... I would love to know some of your Christmas traditions! Or what are some traditions that you have started since you started your family? One of the traditions that I want to start this year is for everyone (once they're old enough) to memorize Luke 2 and to recite it together on Christmas Eve. And on that note... here's Luke 2 :)
Luke 2
: 1-14, "1In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world.
2(This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.)
3And everyone went to his own town to register.
4So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.
5He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.
6While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born,
7and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
8And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.
9An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
10But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.
11Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.
12This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."
13Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."
