Fourth of July!

Happy Fourth of July everyone!!! We had the BEST Fourth this year... it was full of family and friends, good food, good naps and fireworks! :) We started the morning off with breakfast at our house. Hank, Tricia and Katy (Trav's parents and sister) over to join us!

Side Note: for those of you who don't know my little sister Bekka has moved to Texas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She just graduated from a Paul Mitchell Hair Academy last month in Missouri and decided she wanted to start her career in Texas... I am LOVING her desicion! She will be living with us for the next couple of months while she gets on her feet with a job... we are beyond excited!

Back to the Fourth! We had homeade cinnamon rolls, sausage rolls and fruit salad for breakfast... it tasted so delicious! After breakfast we walked over from our house a block to watch the parade that the Historic District puts on. It was a cute little parade... horses and police cars led the way followed by kids on bikes, dogs, babies in strollers and lots of families! Emma loved it!

After the parade we headed back to the house for naps. I guess we were all exhausted because we all slept for 2 1/2 hours! The rest of the afternoon we lounged around and relaxed. Then it was time for our Fourth of July supper... Trav grilled up some brats and we had more fruit salad and chips with it! Little miss Emma LOOOOVESSS brats!! She ate 2 whole ones... she kept asking/signing for more... and we kept giving them to her:)

After supper we headed to the city park for fireworks with the Cannadays. We arrived at the park a little early and Emma and Ella ran and ran and ran and ran until the fireworks started! Once the fireworks started they both settled right in and watched the show till the end!!! It was the perfect ending to a great day!!!

In other news... only 27 days until my due date!!! I am SO ready to have this little guy! He is definitly way more active in my tummy than Emma was. This week will be spent finishing up last minute projects around the house. I can't believe he'll be here in less than a month!!!

Have a great Monday everyone!

Emma's First Pool Party!

Taren and Cam invited us over for a pool party this week. It was a blast!!! They had set up two baby pools and a sprinkler in the backyard for the kiddos to play in. Before we went outside to play Taren had fixed a DELICIOUS lunch for everybody! Chicken and egg salad croissants, chips and dips (Amanda made this), Fruit kabobs (Melissa made this), pasta salad and the most delicious peanut butter pudding dessert I have EVER tasted! She has the recipe on her blog... I'll have to copy and paste it onto mine. It was heavenly! Thanks for hosting such a fun party Taren and Cam! We had the best time!!!

Girls Day

Last week Travis went fishing all day so I thought Emma and I would make a girls day out of him being gone!
We spent the morning running errands and buying flowers for the house. Then we headed to La Madeleine's for lunch! For those of you who don't live by us... La Madeleine's is a little French cafe'! It's definitely not a place that Travis enjoys going for lunch... he says there's not enough food to fill him up! So.... I thought it would be the perfect treat for our Girls Day out! It makes me laugh every time I think about our trip to La Madeleines! For the most part I've stopped carrying Emma around because A. I'm gigantic and to tired to tote around another 25 lbs! and B. because she can walk just fine on her own! We both walked into the restaurant with our purses around our shoulders (she insists on taking her purse everywhere we go now!) and then she stood like such a big girl while I ordered our lunch! They give you this gigantic wooden spoon with your order number on it to set on your table... so I gave it to Emma to to hold while I carried our tray with drinks. And she marched behind me as proud as can be with the gigantic wooden spoon and her purse around her shoulder:) ha! Our table was right by the door where people entered/exited and every time somebody would walk past she would pat them on the hand and say "hiiiiii!"... she is quite the social bug! For lunch Emma had a grilled cheese and fresh fruit salad. And I had a half a chicken salad croissant, pasta salad and a cup of tomato basil soup... SO DELICIOUS! After lunch we headed home and both took a long afternoon nap! We had the best Girls Day out:) Here are a few pics...

Happy Fathers Day!

Happy Fathers Day to Travis, my Dad and Hank! We love you all SO MUCH and are thankful that you are our Dads :)
We took these pictures before church this morning. Emma was in a particularly great mood and ready to pose for the camera! Her little outfit is one of my sewing projects this week... I'm so proud of how it turned out!
Have a great Sunday spent with your fathers everyone!

Fun Activities

Two days of blogging in a row...what has come over me!?!?! :)
Last week was the first week in a long time that Macey didn't come and stay with us during the day (her mom is a teacher so she'll be at home all summer). I could tell towards the middle of the week that Emma was beginning to grow "bored" of her mommy... so I thought we needed to mix things up and add some fun new activities to our routine!
Turns out our little girl LOVES to color! I would set her in her chair and she could color for quite awhile. I'm really quite amazed at how well she scribbles (if that makes sense..ha!).
We took our first trip to the library this past week. Our library has a little area sectioned off for little people that has shelves of little board books for them to read. Emma loves to read so it was a little... okay.. no... ALOT overwhelming for her! :) She would run around and take a couple of books off the shelf and bring them to me to read to her...then she would dash back for more and grab another 2 or 3...and this went on and on. She never sat down with me to read them! And the whole time she was dashing around for books she would say "kooop..koop...koop" which is her word for book.
Alright...I need to get off of here to get our clothes around for church in the morning. Have a great Sunday everyone!

Coloring!
The picture below is one of my favs:) We were waiting in the car for Travis to meet us for lunch and Emma was getting antsy. So I gave her a little sheet of stickers and she stuck them all over her body.... notice the one on her cheek:) she thought it was so funny!
At the library they have a pretend tire swing (it's just a hole in the wall)... Emma loved it!

soooo behind!

To say that I am not motivated to blog lately is a huge understatement:) To say that I'm not motivated to do ANYTHING is even MORE of an understatement than the one before!!!
I don't remember being this exhausted when I was pregnant with Emma... but little Colt is sure sucking the life out of me it feels like! Sooo...the past couple weeks have we've just been doing the bare minimums to get by! Which I keep telling myself is O. K! :) Trav is finally home for the summer which is such a blessing! They finished up school a little over a week ago but he's been working a football camp this past week for a little extra money.
We've been visiting the pool about every other day... Emma is LOVING it!!! She definitly isn't afraid of the water!
Last week I had won tickets to a Thomas the Train show. We weren't sure if Em would sit still through the entire show or not... or if she would be a little monster (the show started at 6:30 which is close to bedtime). She proved us wrong and LOVED IT! She sat perched on Trav's arm the majority of the time. :)
I promise I'll do my best to post here in the next week again... we'll see how that turns out;)
